Closing Escrow

ClosingEscrow

Hey All! Everyone should go see CLOSING ESCROW at FAIRFAX CINEMAS in LOS ANGELES. This film is especially for fans of Reno 911! and mockumentaries. However, I am a fan of neither and I LOVED this movie. Go and see it! I'll even go with you!

Better Stuff Later

I'm returning to the xanga world somewhat like a prodigal son returned to church. A lot of the faithful have moved on to greener pastures - different blog sites, different internet media, possibly abandoning the online continuum altogether! New things all overwhelm me, so I stick to what is good - xanga. I should post more often.

Here is my thought for the day:

I currently work at a library, steadfastly pointing my scan gun at anything with barcodes. Now, every once in a while someone gets in line loudly talking on their phone with little regard to anyone around them. They come to my station, throw their books at me and continue to yap away without even making eye contact. Yesterday, one such gentleman did so. He had fines on his account and needed to renew his registration, but I simply scanned his books and threw them back at him, because I did not see the point of interrupting his cellular concentration. He later approaches complaining that he was never notified of these things and I simply looked at him. Was it really my responsibility to tell him about these things when he seemed rushed and inconsiderately preoccupied? Tell me if you think I am guilty or innocent.

I have a lot of posts that have been sitting in my head waiting to be blogged. Will post soon.

As always, I'm a little behind on the posting. What can I say? Alaska does that to you.

So, here are some quick updates:

My roomate continues to gather points to win the title of most inconsiderate person in the entire world. This title is awarded for various things such as blasting music by Fergie (unlawful in and of itself) and having a party in her room at 4 in the morning on a weeknight, leaving her big butted rolling backpack in the exact middle of the hallway for everyone to trip over, refusing to change the toilet paper roll, even if it means unwrapping a new roll using some of it and putting it on the floor (then leaving the trash on the floor too!), or simply eating everyone's food when she's run out of her own. Needless to say, I am WAY too old to deal with the debacles of student housing ever again.

I went to Fairbanks for Thanksgiving and experienced the chill of -30 degree weather. Lots of fun! Here's pics:

I'm going to graduate school to become a librarian! I should start practicing my shushing right now.
AND

I'll be back from Alaska on Christmas Eve! See you all then. I am definitely going to miss Alaska, but I am really excited to be coming home!

I'm sure I'll post again some time in the near future....

Sorry xanga world - there's been a lot happening over here in Alaska. It's been busy.

I am currently weighing out the pros and cons of making my xanga a SECRET xanga...all special, particular and snobby. We'll see what happens. I'd love any feedback.

Meanwhile, here are some picture links to chew on:

Oh yes - and I got to see the Northern Lights! I feel super lucky. It was definitely on the "50 Things To Do Before I Die" List. One day I will publish my list. You should all start making one too. That's all for now. I have to run.

Life's Simple Pleasures

My Mom notified me that I've been tagged for the "Life's Simple Pleasures" xanga chain mail. I tend to not like these sorts of things, but I was inspired by Miyamots (he has a great list) so this will probably be a one time thing. I love it how my Mom reads xanga everyday.

1. Finding money I've hidden. Especially when I travel, I will put money in shoes, pockets...all sorts of nooks and crannies...and I usually forget about it and find it 3 months later. That's a great feeling. There was a point in life where I was traveling so much that I would find money once a week. That's a really great feeling.

2. Coming home after a long day of work to leftovers from a great restaurant you went to the other night.

3. Chapstick. It seems that people either learn to live without it or love it for life. I love it and I can't imagine life without it. My brand of choice is Blistex Herbal Answer. I will actually drive out of my way to purchase it.

4. Game Nights...especially with ENP, youth group, youth staff and old school 24:7. The value of these game nights only increase when you add any of the following games: Roller Coaster Tycoon (aka the beloved RCT), San Fernando Dodgeball, Mario Party 1-7, Time's Up, Mario Tennis, and Handball (especially with grocery store balls).

5. Oh man - this is one of my favorites...Going to Old Navy and buying things from the clearance section. They will be $30 originally, but marked down to $10; and when the guy rings it up it's $4!!! That is the best.

6. Craig Takashima may be the only person who understands this one: 99cent chicken sandwich and large fries from Jack In The Box. We actually used to know how much it cost with tax. Pathetic.

7. Sunday night dinners at home with the family.

8. The sense of ironic accomplishment I get after watching Harry Potter 1-4 with my sisters.

9.  Finding old friends on Friendster, MySpace, Xanga, Blogger, etc. and reconnecting. I love it when they are just as excited to hear from you as you are to have found them. This is the primary reason I subject myself to the madness of these things.

9.5. I am a big supporter of not picking out of snack mixes; therefore, I love taking a big handful of Honey Nut Chex Mix and getting a ton of vanilla breadsticks. There's also the sugar covered arare in the big "rice cracker" (aka arare or senbei) mix from Trader Joes, the sesame breadsticks in Gardetto's. I know a lot of people like rye chips in regular Chex Mix. BLEH.

10. Being totally stressed out, unhappy and messed up, then having someone offer to pray for you. I think the feeling after prayer just might be the best thing ever.
